20th – 24th March 2007 at the invitation of local government of Civitanova Marche in Italy a delegation from Skawina consisting of: Adam Najder – the Mayor, Ewa Malinowska – Chairman of Skawina Twinning Association and Alina Milarska – Plenipotentiary responsible for promotion and strategy stayed in our twin town went to Civitanova Marche.
The aim of this visit was to take part in a meeting of twin towns of Civitanova (Sebenico – Croatia, San Martin – Argentina, Esine – Italy) which summed up the development of twin town co-operation and was to lay the foundations of further friendly relations and co-operation.
During the main celebrations an agreement concerning further co-operation was signed. It was a great honour to our delegation that they took part in the event of giving a name of "Square of friendship with Skawina" to a beautiful place situated in the oldest part of Civitanova Alta. The Mayor of Skawina Adam Najder thanked the Mayor of Civitanova Marche Erminio Marinelli for his personal engagement thanks to which in the last two years many common activities connected with spreading knowledge about history and culture of our regions were initiated which and student exchange has been put into practice.
17th – 22nd March 2007 within the framework of twin town co-operation, which aims among others at students exchange, a group of 45 students from Skawina junior high schools together with teachers visited Civitanova Marche in Italy.
Polish children were hosted in the homes of Italian students. During their stay they took part in numerous activities well prepared by the students and teachers at schools, such as: sport activities – boys played basketball and the girls volleyball, dancing evening, music competitions – which included show of a part of the musical “Grease” performed by the students.
During the meetings Italian and Polish students had a chance to play together and get to know each other’s culture and make friends. To give the students a chance to get to know Italian culture better they had guided tours in: Ancona, Frasassi cave, Asconi Piceno, Loreto with the church S. Casa and Polish Cemetery, Civitanova Alta and Captain’s Port, Shipyard and Fish market in Civitanova Marche.
In their programme there was also a meeting of the students with local government and an evening meeting with representatives of twin towns of Civitanova Marche, among others Skawina delegation, which were in Civitanova due to the meeting of twin towns that took place then.
It is delightful that our young residents show their interest in friendship with peers from twin towns. Such meetings and friendships will surely soon result in closer co-operation between our towns not only in the form of student exchange

During their short stay the group met the Head of the school – Mrs Jaroslava Baresova. During the meeting a presentation about the Twinning Association was presented and co-operation between the schools was discussed. Probably a group of students with the teachers will come to Skawina in May in order to take part in the Rely Race organized by Primary School Nr 1 in co-operation with the Centre of Sport and Culture.
